Good Monday!

Hello All!

It is a BEAUTIFUL day here in Calgary! Supposed to get up to 21 degrees! That's why I'm posting now so I can putter in my garden all day! Uhhh.....love it! The sad news is, we are supposed to get snow on Thursday, Friday and Saturday!!!! They have to be joking right?!?

Today's card I made with another stamp from my sister-in-law's collection. No idea where she got this one, but I love the saying. I started with a scrap from the bin of light cream and burgundy filigree paper and mounted it on card stock from my DCWV Jewel Textured Stack. I then used some paper called "Happy Holidays" by Jackie Eckles that I had left over from a class I took at Scrapbooker's Paradise at Christmas. I believe it was the acrylic album class I took with Dana from Dana's House of Cards! That's when we met! I cut out two pieces from the back of that holiday paper which is the polka dots and mounted them both on the same burgundy card stock as before. The bottom one I made a frilled edge on the right so I could add the jewels. I made a six layer flower (I love to layer as many as I can) and fastened it with a orange jewelled brad. I dusted all the edges of the cardstock with DuDrop's Jumbo Java Ink and added the burgundy with lemons ribbon on the right. I bought that ribbon a long long time ago at Michael's and I still have tonnes of it left! I tied a knot in it at the top and tucked the mounted sentiment "All things grow with love" under it. Ta-da - finished!

I sure hope the weather is as nice for all of you as it is here!

Have a great Monday - OH, I just remembered - it's Mojo Monday - I haven't done a challenge in forever - watch for ti tomorrow! YAY!

Cheers,

I'm baaaaaaaaccccckkkkk......

Wow! What a week! I have been so sick it is almost unimaginable. I finally went to a Naturopath (after my brother scolding me!!!) and I am so glad I did! I guess my Lymphatic Drainage System isn't working so I have been collecting the "bad" kind of bacteria in my stomach for a long time (many many years!). So, now it is just so bad that my body can't fight it off. I'm on meds and the doctor promised me I would start to feel better soon! Whew!

So, I'm sorry for the hiatus ladies! But I haven't even wanted to get out of bed!!!!

The first card after being back is a quicky I just did. I went to visit my parents for Easter and my sister-in-law and I LOVE to get together and stamp! We had a few hours one day so I used all her stamps and she used all mine! (which is only about 10 - let's face it!) It was great! She has the best stamps - and tonnes too!!! I dream of being as good as her one day!!! :) I could go on forever about her talent!!!

Anyways...the card. I started with a scrap (yes still doing the scraps thing!) that is some sparkly flower paper. I have no idea where I got it, but I love it, and I have the same one in all pinks too.

The striped paper on the left is a scrap too from a Dollarama pack and I used two pieces of ribbon both the same pattern, one purple and one green. The stamp is my sister-in-law's and it was from a clear set she got at Michael's. I stamped it with jet black ink and embossed it with Stamp-It's Hologram powder. What else would I use - really?!? I colored it in using my Crayola's and put a clear jewel on the top of the cupcake! The sentiment "Hi Cupcake!" is from the same clear stamp set and it is stamped and embossed the same way. I mounted everything on purple paper from my DCWV Jewel Texture Stack and used my sissors to cut the frilled edges. After making knots with the ribbon and putting them on with a pop dot each, I used 3 tiny jewes in the bottom left corner to finish it off! Not bad for my first day back after a long week of sickness! YAY!!!

Hope you guys are all well. Tomorrow I'm gonna do some serious blog hoping - it's been forever! Can't wait!

Have a great Saturday!!!

One Last Card...

I am squeezing this one in as the hubby glares at me for not getting organized for going away, but scraping instead! heehee. I'm set to go - I swear! LOL I wanted to just get one more card in because you probably wont see another post until Tuesday, maybe even Wednesday.

I started with light grey card stock for the actual card and mounted a piece of checkered blue and pale yellow paper as the back square. I used two strips of blue paper from my Jeweled Textured Stack and rounded the edges with my corner rounder. I then lightly dusted the edges with Royal Blue Ink to distress it. I mounted a piece of the plaid paper onto a scrap of the feux snake skin paper I had left over in the bin. (Yes still working on the scrap bin - but most of it is teeny tiny pieces now!!!) I used one of MFT stamps I hadn't stamped yet...I need to get me some more of those! ha! I stamped her in Jet Black Ink and embossed her with Stamp-It's Hologram Powder. I colored her in with my Crayola's and punched her out with my circle punch. After layering five flowers with a blue brad and adding 3 clear jewels, I wrote "Sometimes...(on the front) ...when it rains - it pours!" (on the inside).

Ok, well I am off to the airport! RIGHT NOW literally!!!! Have an excellent Easter everyone!!!

Enjoy the long weekend...

Chicks With Inkpads!

Hey Everyone!!!

Well, today my first ever sampler was posted! I am so excited, I don't even have words! I'm so giddy! Hahahahaha...

Of course we all know that I am doing the scrap bin only thing, so all my papers (again) are from the masses of teeny tiny pieces I have left over. But I will get it all used - I vow!!!

I started with the background bright pink card stock from my DCWV's Jewel Textured Stack. Using a punch I made two frilly squares and layered them on top the background. On the left I used some bright blue cardstock and make a strip with a frilled edge on one side. I then mounted a piece of pale green and olive colored vined paper that has some sparkle. I made two different flowers and mounted them both with magenta jeweled brads. Lastly I used some ribbon from Michael's and made a knot. The stamp is by Studio G and is one of their clear sets you can buy at Michael's. I stamped it in Jet Black Ink and embossed it with Stamp-It's Hologram Powder.

Check out the challenge on the Chicks With Inkpads Blog. It's a fabulous color combo!

Thanks for the support ladies!

Cheers,

Bella's Challenge

Ok, here it is. My first ever crack at the Bella Challenge. I really liked how the card turned out so, THAT is why I am entering. I do alot of challenges in a week, but I don't always love what I made so I don't post it. Silly, I know, but I am still very self conscious about my work since I'm still a newbie. :)

The Bella image I chose is one of my three. I know, that sounds so piddly doesn't it? What's wrong with me? I LOVE Bella...better get some buying done! ha! This is Blingabella and I just love her. I hope that's what my engagement ring looks like on my finger from afar! hahahahaha!!!! I stamped her with Jet Black Ink and embossed her with Stamp-It's Hologram Powder. I colored her in with my Crayola's and added a clear jewel to her ring! (The bigger the better right?!?) I used all scraps from my bin so I don't know the names or whereabouts of much of this paper, but I do believe the pink came from my DCVW's Jewelled Textured Stack. The orange polka dot is from Creative Memories and has the same story to go along with it as my previous post. Sniff sniff...LOL. I punched out a circle with my patterned paper and mounted it on a pale orange, then the polka dot and trimmed the edges so they look frilly. The sentiment I used is from Stamping Bella too, and I stamped it with DuDrop Green Olive Ink and Embossed with Stamp- It's silver embossing powder. I used one of those curly silver clasps to put the sentiment on so it looks like it can be removed. On the left hand side I used some on my orange Core Color Coredinations paper and ripped a strip of it off. I used some green ribbon and tied 3 knots instead of a bow for a change. After adding my three bling in the bottom right hand corner, I called 'er done!

*** Don't forget to watch for next Tuesday's challenge over at Chicks With Inkpads! It's week three and I got the chance to be a sampler this time! First time ever - can't wait!!!! ***

Thanks for coming and taking a look,

Cheers,

The Early Bee Get's the....?!?

Good Morning Everyone! It is a crisp 6:30 am in my house and I have been awake for 2 hours! I must be on Jamaica time or something...

Originally I thought I wouldn't attempt any challenges this week because work will be crazy, I have lots of things to do for the girls in my Brownie's Group on Wednesday, and I have other cards I just need to get made! But I was looking around the other blogs last night and couldn't help but jot down a few - just in case....WELL, since I was up so early this morning and the last thing I feel like doing is laundry, why not scrap! YAY!!!!

FIRST CARD!!!

This one is for Amy R's Friday Sketch Challenge! I haven't done one for her yet, so here it goes! I got my first Favorite Things stamp while I was away and I just love it! I used the How Sweet It Is stamp and it is perfect for my Sister-in-law's b-day coming up. She is a fabulous stamper and it's always so nerve racking to send her a card...but I LOVE getting her's! FABULOUS ideas.

Anyway...I colored my girl in with my Crayola's and mounted her off center in the boardering circle of purple cardstock from my DCWV Jewel Textrured Stack. I then ripped a strip of some of my Coredinations Core Color paper that my lovely man bought me IN A SCRAPBOOKING STORE (yes he went in and asked for help - my gosh it's a new day!!!!) and I love it so much that I use it VERY spareingly. The background purple flower is from my DCWV All Occasion Glitter Stack and the green border is from the same stack as the purple circle mount. I used the sentiment that came with my stamp that says Sisters and Chocolate...make life bearable. I think that is just perfect! My flowers are made from scraps and a punch and I added the jewels in the center for some sparkle.

SECOND CARD!!!

This one is for Taylor's Sketch Challenge from Taylored Expressions. I love this website, she is so talented! I used the same stamp as yesterdays post I know, but I have a limited supply and I am still working on buying and filling my stamp box. I colored her different to mix it up a little, and I picked this Bella to be blonde! I also embossed her with Stamp-It's Hologram Sparkle Embossing Powder. The blue border is from my DCWV's Neutrals stack and the polka dot is from one of my Costco packs. The smaller circle is punched out of paper from my All Occasion Glitter Stack and the flowers are done the same as the card above. I used some of that ribbon I was talking about in my last post from Zellers (what a steal!) and added some jewels to make it more interesting. This one is fairly simple...but just as effective.

That's today done! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Bless Up!

Just another day in paradise...

Happy Friday All!!!! :)

It's a happy day in Shelley's World - my first ever Stamping Bella order came yesterday and I have today off from work!!!! YAY YAY YAY!!!

I just have to toot my own horn here a little....I am so proud, I accomplished 4 challenges and two cards all this morning! And for a newby in the challenge department, I think that deserves a pat on the back! ha! Whew! I hope I'm allowed to do that...2 challenges on one card...hmmm...

Oh well,
First card...

I made this one for Alicia, a friend of ours who lives in Jamaica. We are going on holidays again there and we can't wait to see her. It just so happens to be her 27th Birthday so I got her a nice gift and made this card. The challenges are from Our Creative Corners Sketch Challenge and Color Throwdowns Weekly Color Picks #32. I obviously don't have all the colors they specify, but it does say that you can use simular colors. The yellow cardstock is from my DCWV Jewel Color Stack and both my pink patterned papers are from Costco packs. I used Stamping Bella's Prezzibella stamp, but only used her from the waist up. I added a scrap piece of pink polka dot ribbon left from class at Scrapbookers Paradise, added a button from my botton jar and some bling to make it sparkle. Of course I always color in with my Crayola's (I'm not giving in to the Copic's just yet!!!) and I stamped the present twice so I could pop it out with some pop dots. Gotta love 3-D!

Second Card...
This one doesn't have a recipient but will be added to the shelf with all my extras and get used shortly I'm sure. I made this for Kwerner Designs Color Challenge #44 and Mojo Monday's Week#76 Sketch Challenge. I used Dew Drop's Versa Magic Ink in Jumbo Java to ink up my brand new stamp from Stamping Bella called Hearty Ewe. I think he is too cute and I embossed him with Whispers Holographic Embossing Powder! Again both the patterned brown and pink swirl paper and the solid pink background are from a Costco pack but the dark chocolate card stock is from my DCWV Neutral's stack. I had a Studio G Clear Stamp for the hello that I bought at Michael's and the ribbon is called Playful Petals. I put the whole thing on white Bon-Bon card stock and called 'er a day!
So, two for today, I think I can call that good for a couple! heehee Have a nice weekend, thanks for coming!

A Hippity Hop, A Flippity Flop....

Ahhh.......the first of my Easter cards! That means Spring has almost sprung - and boy am I looking forward to it. I have high expectations that when I return from my holiday it will automatically be Spring! LOL

I know it is a tad early to do Easter cards, but one of my best mates lives in Australia and it takes a while to get to her so again, this is one of the one's I have to get done before I go away.

This card is started with the green background cardstock which is from my DCWV Inc.'s Jewel Textured Stack. The purple floral pattern paper is from the DCWV Inc's All Occasion Glitter Stack (can you tell I love this stuff?!?) and is mounted on plain white cardstock. The carrot stamp is from Michael's and is by Studio G again but this one is wood based. I colored with my favorite Crayola's and it is embossed with the Stamp-It Holgram Powder. To finish it off I used 3 dark forest green jewel's and some ribbon from a Dollarama varierty pack.
I love how this one turned out and I may do some duplicates for the rest of the Easter cards I have to make!
Thanks for taking a look, have a great day!
